Ananya is an Australian actor. From a young age she loved performing and participated in dance, choir, drama and debating. Her love for acting took her to an audition at the Hilton Hotel where she submitted to enrol in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
She was accepted shortly after her audition and then the pandemic started! After months of emailing with the college, applying for visas and government exemptions, and many, many covid tests, she arrived in New York.
This experience was beyond her wildest dreams, she trained under teachers that had decades of professional acting experience across Film, TV and Theatre in America. She trained in classical theatre and Film and TV.
She played Mina Harker in a modern adaption of Dracula for her graduation series. She worked with a unique director, Michael Toomey, who allowed for improv and unpredictability which gave his students the chance to be comfortable and express their creative potential. This play allowed her to draw parallels between Mina’s adventure and her own adventure moving overseas to study.
Since graduating she has performed in off broadway plays while working at The Tank NYC. The Tank is an indie theatre company supporting independent artists and their work, she feels very grateful to have been a part of their team. Upon returning to Australia she worked in hospitality, receiving two 5 star google reviews for her dedication to guest care!
